Sydney Mardi Gras 2009

I will be away to chase a life long dream of mine this weekend, that said, I will not be able to attend this year's biggest party on this planet this weekend at the Sydney's Mardi Gras 2009.

Last year, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras has brought Olivia Newton John, Kathy Griffin, Cyndy Lauper and Margret Cho together.

And Olivia Newton John brought the house down with her live performance of "Xanadu"

Traditionally, Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras has always managed to kept their live performance with extreme secrecy until show time.

This year however, the big secret performance has been confirmed two weeks ahead of the event, that it will be the the original powerhouse diva from "Jerry Springer the musical" Alison Jiear herself whose over the top anthem "I Just Wanna Dance" has been performed to a thousand death by drag queens all over the world, the YouTube version is hilarious (NSFW), kudo to the owner who took the time to made it. This weekend however, Australian will get to see how it's done live!

I've seen the musical in London a few years ago, it was as outrageously offensive as it was fabulous!

Another guest performance also confirmed is the rising Aussie gay icon, ex Rogue Traders vocal lead singer / So You Think You Can Dance Australia Host / Actress, Natalie Bassingthwaighte

whose new album Alive just came out last week

This year, also joining the festival is the one and only legendary Joan Rivers

who is here to plug her books and her one woman tell all show!

Only five more sleeps to go!

And for those who wants a piece of the action on the day, you can download the exclusive Mardi Gras 2009 Parade en route remix of God Is A DJ by my friend DJ Mark Alsop here
